Biography
Dr. Samir Dukmak is an associate professor of special education at Al Ain University, United Arab Emirates (UAE) since September 2010. He received his BA in psychology from Bethlehem University, Palestine, advanced diploma in community based rehabilitation from London University and his M.Ed. in special education from the University Of Manchester, UK before eventually becoming a child service and community projects coordinator at Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation in 1989. After his nine-year career there, Dr. Dukmak returned to UK to pursue his Ph.D. in special education at the University of Manchester. In 2002 he joined United Arab Emirates University as an assistant professor of special education, where he worked for eight years. From 2010 until present time, Dr. Dukmak has been working at Al Ain University in the UAE. During his stay at the United Arab Emirates University and at Al Ain University, he conducted several studies in different areas of special education. Four of his research articles are specifically related to stress that parents of children with developmental and intellectual disabilities develop as a result of having such children. Dr. Dukmak also chaired the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Ain University for two years (2014-2016), where he established the Special Education Program.
